Batman V Superman:Dawn of Justice is the superhero face-off movie fans have been waiting for. The Zack Synder directed film pits two of DC Comics most iconic characters against one another.

Packed with tons of action and dialogue-driven scenes, the film showcases major character development. Dawn of Justice contains many plot twists that kept audiences on their toes.

The highly anticipated superhero flick stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Jessie Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.

Expected to follow in the usual Marvel movie formula, DC’s Batman V Superman takes on a different approach.

Dawn of Justice touches on sophisticated topics and discussions. Driven by themes of Christian symbolism and redemption, audiences were challenged to view profound arguments be incorporated within DC Comic’s mythology.

Although not a direct sequel, Batman V Superman is certainly the aftermath to events that took place in 2013’s Man of Steel. The film also serves as a test pilot for DC Entertainment’s upcoming 2017 film Justice League Part One.

Opening with Batman’s origin, the scene was shot with vivid poetic imagery similar to the opening sequence of Synder’s 2009 film Watchmen. The next scene cut to the climax of Man of Steel from the perspective of Bruce Wayne. He witnesses the deaths of countless civilians and the collateral damage Superman and General Zod’s battle causes.

The film has an overall dark tone until the film’s antagonist, Lex Luthor is introduced. Eisenberg gave the character an enigmatic portrayal that was both psychotic and comedic. Luther’s dialogue was mostly metaphorical which was difficult to understand at times.

Snyder made sure the main characters had a fair amount of screen time and even snuck in a few cameos introducing Justice League members.

Gal Gadot’s portrayal of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman stole the film. Diana Prince’s mystique persona was mesmerizing in scenes where she interacted with Bruce Wayne. Gadot’s performance as Wonder Woman in the final battle made her a fan favorite amongst audiences.

The biggest emotional pull of the movie went back to the character of Superman making the audience empathize with Clark Kent.

Most scenes and interactions among characters reflect on Superman. This tested the audience to view the character as either an ally or a threat to humanity through the eyes of the supporting characters in the film.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is rated PG-13 and has a running time of 2 hours and 31 minutes. Hints of sexuality and excessive violence made the movie daring and gives it a dark tone.
