Bomb Threat Hoax Causes Evacuation at York College
By Niko Balkaran
After an anonymous bomb threat, students and staff were evacuated from York College on Monday morning. By afternoon, the NYPD had investigated and cleared the campus. They determined the call was a hoax, according to a final emergency notification on the college’s Cardinal app.
Classes were canceled for the day, and everyone was asked to leave the campus in an earlier emergency notification.
Students were initially confused as they were told from multiple sources, including the Student Government President, that the evacuation was because of a planned fire drill.
Classes will be resumed on Tuesday and follow a regular schedule.
