Music holds profound significance in human culture, transcending boundaries of language, geography, and time. Music has the power to uplift spirits, soothe troubled minds, and evoke feelings. Whether it’s a joyful melody at a celebration or a melancholic tune during times of grief, music provides solace and catharsis.
On Tuesday March 26 the music program conducted their annual workshop recital. The workshop recital is a class for music students who want to learn songs that they like. They practice every Tuesday for three weeks and then perform on the fourth week.
Kylian Elliot, a Music major at York college said he really found a calling for music at the age of 10 and doing these workshops help branch out a person’s talent and really engage with fellow musicians and audience.
Later on that night Richard Chow was performing his senior recital in the Faculty Dining Room around 7 p.m. With his performance he was able to foster connection and solidarity among his colleagues and young musicians at York, uniting individuals with shared musical preferences and experiences.
In essence, music is more than mere entertainment; it’s a craft that is shared with the human emotion and mind.
