“Chilombo” is the Album That’s in the Books for Womens’ History Month
By Autumn Matthews
From her songs, “The Worst”, “W.A.Y.S.”, “Comfort Inn Ending” (freestyle), and “Stay Ready” most of us, (especially the ladies), all felt each and every lyric that Jhené has ever said in her songs.
I have been a fan of Jhené since 2013 after hearing her verse on Drake’s “From Time”. True Jhené fans know that every album or freestyle of Jhené’s is very relatable. Jhené released her third studio album “Chilombo” on March 6th, 2020. Like always Jhené never disappoints. She gave us a preview of “Chilombo” when she released two singles, “None of Your Concern” and “Triggered” (freestyle).
I had a feeling Jhené was working on her third studio album because for her first and second album she released two singles that are platinum-certified. In the album, “Chilombo” Jhené gave us soul, peace, and her truth. I love every song on the album but I do have two favorites which are “None of Your Concern” featuring Big Sean and “B.S.” featuring H.E.R. Not only do I love the lyrics but the tempo and the instruments that were used in those songs I also love.
So far, I believe this is the best R&B album of 2020. There was never a song that I had to skip. I listened to the entire album for about two hours. If you didn’t listen to “Chilombo” yet you need to because the album is amazing and if you are dealing with difficulties in life, it would help you overcome them. Jhené was very unapologetic in this album.
If I could rate this album I would give it a 10/10. I cannot go a day since the release of “Chilombo” without listening to any of the songs especially my favorites. I recommend everyone to go listen to Jhené Aiko’s third studio album if you haven’t and I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
