The Pussycat Dolls: A Girl Group’s Long-Awaited Return and New Music Video

The Pussycat Dolls released their comeback single, REACT, and their fans have not forgotten the famous hair flips in their new music video.

2010 is still a great era of pop music and it’s been over 10 years since fans have not heard from the Pussycat Dolls after they released Buttons (2009). However, they were ecstatic to find out that the group came back to the music scene 10 years later.

 2020 is definitely the year of the Dolls and on Feb. 7, the pop girl-group released their long-waited music video, “REACT”. And of course, they are still beautiful but more beautiful than ever. In the music video, the dolls emulate their passion of bad-girl mixed with sexy choreography including countless hair-flips.

However, one member, Melody Thornton, was missing from the video. Thornton left the group in 2010 and refused to be part of it again. According to Heart.UK, Thornton says she was not able to show off her “greatest assets” — her singing voice in the group — which made it feel “challenging” to do so. Thus, it affected her self-confidence and she decided to leave the group.

 “They said we’re going to have Nicole do all of the recording, you’re going to have to learn and dance with the rest of these girls,” Thornton said in a statement in 2019. “For me, it really affected my confidence because I wasn’t using my best asset, and people were getting to know me for something that I didn’t do. And I was the weakest dancer, so it was challenging.”

Of course fans were saddened that she was not in the music video, but the group announced that they are having a tour this year as if it could be turning a new leaf.

Before the group performed on the X Factor: Celebrity Final in December 2019, they shared that they are having a tour in the United Kingdom, according to Variety. They reunited on the show in the same month and performed one of their biggest hits: “Buttons”, “When I Grow Up”, “Don’t Cha” and their new single, “REACT” prior to the release of the music video. 

“We’re stronger than ever,” lead singer of The Pussycat Dolls, Nicole Scherzinger, told the Associated Press last December. “It’s a great time in history for empowerment.”
