York College’s Assistant Dean of Student Development, Randolph Punter, 66, recently commented on the state of the college’s ongoing repair plans.
“The safety of students is always a priority and right now we only have one elevator operating which is for cargo,” said Dean Punter.
According to Dean Punter, York plans on installing automatic ADA doors and repairing escalators and elevators. However, the college does plan on replacing an escalator between the A, B and H-Wing in the main building with stairs.
The construction in the main building is making it difficult for students with disabilities to get to class. On Feb. 19 there will be a town hall meeting in the atrium from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. concerning the improvements the college has done.
