The York College women’s soccer team put on a dominating display on Friday, November 1st, when they squared up against Yeshua university and went 6-0. From the outset, they controlled the game with a strong offense, and Zaria Neptune sank the first goal of six at just under fifteen minutes with an assist from Karyme Martinez. Yeshua had no chance to recover as Brithney Bialma, assisted by Alisha Adams, and Emelin Cajamarca, by way of an assist from Martinez, scored twice to round out the first half.
In the second half, Melanie Guerrero shot past Yeshua’s defense to score just minutes after the whistle, and her effort was doubled by Stephanie Ramirez, who with an assist from Neptune, brought the score up to 5-0. In the last minutes of the match, Cajamarca capped off the game with her second goal of the match, and tied it off with a neat 6-0 overall.
York College had a staggering 35 shots, with 21 on goal, in comparison to Yeshua’s 5, with 2 on goal. In terms of saves, Yeshua had to defend their goalpost fifteen times to York’s two, and York also held the edge in corner kicks, at six to Yeshua’s two.
Overall it was a strong display of tenacity and will, headed by a coordinated team and skilled players, that won the day in York College’s favor.
